The purpose of FOCI Academe is to provide:
- Education and guidance on conflict of interest
- Leadership in the development and application of conflict of
interest standards
- A resource for policy makers, media, and the public on conflicts
of interest issues
- A national forum on conflict of interest discussion, policy
development and implementation
Mission
To promote and advance ethical standards in universities and their
academic affiliates related to individual and institutional conflicts
arising from external financial and fiduciary interests.
Membership
Membership currently consists of over 350 individual representatives
from 93 institutions and organizations. Institutions that
may send representatives from universities, academic health
centers, medical schools, teaching hospitals, other hospitals
that have substantive research programs, and research institutes.
Institutions may have more than one representative to FOCI
Academe; however, only one representative per institution
may have delegated voting authority.
