63 VSAS Host Schools in 2009!

The Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) is an AAMC application designed to streamline the application process for senior "away" electives at other U.S. LCME medical schools. This service requires students to submit just one application for all schools, effectively reducing paperwork, miscommunication, and time. VSAS also provides a centralized location for managing offers and tracking decisions. It was created at the request of two GSA committees: Committee on Student Records (COSR) and Committee on Student Affairs (COSA).

When can I use VSAS?

After launching in April 2008, VSAS remains open indefinitely.

  • Access VSAS: You may log in to VSAS once your home school issues you authorizations.

  • Submit applications: You may submit applications only when a VSAS host school makes their electives available for application. This application date will vary from host school to host school so use the VSAS "Schools" tab (available at beginning of February 2009) to research these days.

Do I need to use VSAS?

You will only use VSAS if you are enrolled at a U.S. LCME medical school and are applying for senior away electives at any of the following 63 host schools:
