The AAMC joined several letters requesting robust funding for programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The AAMC signed an April 30 letter urging Congress to pass a Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill for fiscal year (FY) 2025 that includes $340 million (48.5% increase from $175 million in FY 2024) annually for public health data modernization and $100 million for the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (50% increase from $50 million in FY 2023) at the CDC.
Also on April 30, alongside 73 other organizations, the AAMC joined letters to both House and Senate Appropriations leadership, recommending $268.1 million — with $250 million dedicated to the Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative — for community and youth violence prevention programming at the CDC (93.2% increase over FY 2024).
